Tilapia Cichlidae

Depending upon where you live, you may or may not have heard of the Tilapia. Tilapia are native to Africa and the Middle East, although they are now found throughout the world. This is because they are a very popular fish for aquaculture  projects due to their resistance to disease, and their ability to live in even brackish water.
If you live in Europe, or the USA, you may not have heard of these fish, although you may have seen them named as “white fish” or “Perch” on restaurant menus. Their meat is a very good source of protein, and their quick growth makes them valuable in commercial aquaculture. Tilapia will eat anything – they are omnivorous – and some species grow very quickly. This makes them very useful in aquaculture. projects, especially in rice-cum-fish projects.
